White Art Clay No. 25
Dry only
AMACOŽ No. 25 is an all-purpose low-fire pure white clay with a new and
improved no-talc formula. Gray-white in the raw state, No. 25 is more
intensely white when fired. It also has an unusual resistance to
crazing, due to its formulation to fit most Cone 05-06 glazes. It is
available in de-aired moist or airfloated dry formulas.
No. 25 clay is suitable for all handbuilding methods of modeling and
wheel throwing. Its extreme plasticity makes even very large pieces
easier to throw. It is recommended for the classroom and all areas of
ceramics, due to its versatility.
AMACOŽ No. 25 White Art Clay is recommended to be fired at Cone 05-04,
but pieces can be fired as high as Cone 3, (2138°F, 1170°C) without
distortion. At Cone 04 shrinkage is 6.3% and absorption 13.7%.
AMACOŽ glazes maturing at Cone 06-04 and decorating colors are suggested
for use with No. 25 clay, which allows a wide selection of colors and
textures to choose from. Because the bisque is intensely white, opaque
and transparent glazes and underglazes retain all of their true color
and brilliance.
Casting slip can be made from No. 25-D by adding water in the amount of
44% of the dry weight of the clay, .50% AMACOŽ N Brand Sodium Silicate
and .05% Soda Ash. A liquid white casting slip (15-S) is available in
gallons.
